Team Secret Valorant rounds off the roster with JDG
As a part of the VCT 2023 roster rebuild, Team Secret Valorant has announced the addition of Noel “NDG” De Guia to the roster. NDG replaces the team’s original member Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan.
Missing by an inch - Team Secret in VCT 2023:
Team Secrets’ 2023 was not necessarily bad. The team played amazing games, delivered some interesting upsets and overall looked like a team that can compete with the top teams around the world. Unfortunately, the team always fell short.
They started the year with upsetting the superstar EMEA roster in Team Liquid at VCT LOCK//IN 2023. But were eliminated by Natus Vincere in the following game.
They started their VCT Pacific 2023 journey by taking down Talon and Paper Rex, the two giants who previously were the gatekeepers of APAC. The win was a huge confidence boost for the team.
In the VCT Pacific 2023 Super Week, Team Secret became the first team to upset DRX in the Pacific league. The victory solidified the team’s position in the playoffs.
Unfortunately in the playoffs, they lost to ZETA Division and were eliminated by GenG. At the LCQ, the team placed 2nd behind ZETA Division, who ultimately secured the tickets to Valorant Champions 2023.
Throughout the year, Team Secret did not look uncomfortable but fumbled the wrong games eventually missing out on International competition.
Changes afoot:
After the team's season concluded, they decided to part ways with DubsteP and lenne, the original members of the team. Yesterday, 23rd October, they announced the addition of NDG to the roster. The former NAOS esports player can play multiple roles and is a strong addition to the team.
Compared to the other International Pacific squads, Team Secret hasn’t necessarily “upgraded” the squad yet. They have decided to go with an all Filipino roster and it’d be interesting to see how the squad performs next year.
