Outsiders vs. Fnatic:
Qualifying to the Champions stage via Legends and Challengers stages, Both Fnatic and outsiders have played an extensive no. of matches to reach the major quarterfinals. The teams will face each other for the second time in the tournament, where in the Swiss stage, Outsiders won over Fnatic. Fnatic will come prepared now and try to exact their revenge on the Outsiders. The match will likely be close, but the results might favor the Outsiders.
MOUZ vs. Cloud9:
The young Mouz has already been making history, making a fantastic run. The team qualified through Challengers without dropping a beat and cruised through the Legends stage. Cloud9 did stumble in the beginning going 0-2 down in the Legends stage but recovered after winning all the match-ups, defeating Faze and Navi in the legends stage to reach the champions stage.
The match-up favors Cloud9 heavily, but MOUZ has surprised the viewers, winning crucial matches to qualify for Champions. The game sure will be a clash of styles, with C9 solid defense taking on MOUZ's freestyle of attack and defense.
Team Spirit vs. Heroic:
Team Spirit has surprised everyone again, clenching the Champions stage despite the hiccups. And now they face one of the strongest teams in the competition in Heroic. Heroic, themselves, have had some obstacle qualifying for the Champions stage, but they are one of the strongest teams in the major. Team Spirit might pull an upset again, but Heroic seems to be a favorite in the game.
Furia vs. NAVI:
Arguably the closest match-up in the champions stage, Furia and Navi looked amazingly strong and were the favorites to win the whole thing. The match-up will have the most viewers and hype compared to the other match-ups, as both teams would have made the finals. Now that they are meeting in the first round, either team can take away the win. It will be fun to watch s1mple taking on the best player in the tournament Yurriih.
Starting with the opening matches, the Outsiders have once beaten Fnatic in the swiss group, and they can do it again. While Fnatic is good, the individual performances seem shaky, which gives Outsiders an upper hand. They will make it to the semis over Fnatic with everything in Outsider's favor. Cloud9 has looked insanely strong in the tournament despite the 0-2 start, and they will continue to dominate. MOUZ is a strong team, but the LAN experience and age of C9's roster will prevail in the match-up.
Heroic is one of the strongest teams coming into the Major. Despite the upsets Team Spirit has pulled, Heroic will be their most formidable opponent. The match might go to the third map, but Heroic and Cadian will prevail in the end.
Furia and Navi will probably be the closest map in the tournament, but with s1mple in the peak form, there will be no answer for him. Furia does have the best player in the tournament, but the Navi squad will prevail in the match-up.
The semis between Outsiders and Cloud9 will surely be a close affair, but Cloud9's teamplay and explosiveness will take over the server. Outsiders will put up a fight, but this seems like a C9 Major.
Once again, S1mple will face Heroic, and all the Navi players look like a force to reckon with. The match-up might swing the other way, but Navi's firepower and strength will edge out Cadian's Heroic.
IEM Rio Major will be the first all-CIS major finals. With C9 and Navi both looking like the best teams in the tournament right now. Furia is the closest to both teams. The finals will be no easy ride for any of the team. Both C9 and Navi can win the game, depending on the day.
But I will pick C9 over Navi, as the only department Navi lacks is the IGL since Booml4 departure. Throughout the tournament, C9 has proved their mental fortitude and made terrific comebacks. The same can't be said about Navi, who has always gotten the upper hand. It might not be the deciding factor, but It is Cloud9's Major, and Cloud9 will end their hardship with the Major win.
Starting with Outsider and Fnatic, Despite the strong form and previous results favouring Outsiders, they usually fail to close it out when it matters. Coming into Champions, Fnatic won over NiP and ENCE, one of the tournament favourites in BIG. The outsiders have similar results, but a loss to Heroic led to some doubts. Ultimately, King Krimz's major experience will surely overcome The Outsiders, with Fnatic winning the series 2-1 in a close match.
Coming into the Champions stage, Cloud9 looked like a dominant force, beating Faze, Navi and Heroic to qualify for the Playoffs. MOUZ have had incredible wins, but they are no match for Cloud9's skill and mental fortitude. The game will be a one-sided win for Cloud9.
Team Spirit sure have made a miracle run coming into the Champions stage, but Heroic are more potent than the opponents Spirit have faced to date. Heroic have always looked stronger and continue to win easily, beating Spirit.
Furia and Navi will be a match to watch, but with s1mple leading the charge, Navi will be a formidable opponent for Furia. Furia does have a home-ground advantage, but Navi has better historical stats giving them an edge over Furia in the matchup.
In the first Semi-finals, Fnatic might be strong, but they look shaky, and Cloud9 looks like the strongest CIS team in the Major. In every aspect, Fnatic will be outclassed by C9, and in the end, Cloud9 will win over Fnatic.
Heroic is strong, and they will be Navi's toughest opponents in a BO3 this major. But with s1mple, electronic, b1t and Perfecto in prime form, Navi can easily take down Heroic. The series will go 2-1, but Navi will edge out Heroic.
Navi and Cloud9 will be the battle of the best CIS teams, and we will see the first All-CIS major. Navi has had a rough start, but they have looked stronger since then. The series will be the closest. The win condition again will be s1mple and co. Firing on all cylinders. The calling for Navi seems a bit shaky for now. In the end, Navi and s1mple will prevail against C9, giving S1mple his second ring.
The Champions stage will kick off soon, with the first opening matches today at THE JEUNESSE ARENA, RIO.
