Support life has changed in Dota 2 patch 7.38. Players can craft items, defend wisdom runes, benefit more from Tormentors and overall have an easier time making an impact in the game.

A lot of supports have received changed and it can be overwhelming to figure out which heroes came out ahead. Luckily for you, we have assembled a list of the best hard supports to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.38

The three best hard supports in Dota 2 patch 7.38

Winter Wyvern

Winter Wyvern is a solid pick in Dota 2 patch 7.38. Thank god for Recursive! (Credit: Valve)

Winter Wyvern reverted back to being an intelligence hero and because of that she lost some physical damage per level up. In return she received a huge boost to her stats, better facets, and a more reliable innate ability.

The hero deals on average one less damage at level one and gains only 3.6 damage instead of 4.6. As a support though, the damage lost is unimportant, and later on Winter Wyvern doesn't right-click except to apply Arctic Burn to enemies.

In return, she has two extra strength and an additional 0.3 strength gain, 0.2 agility growth, and an incredible 0.8 intelligence increase per level. The hero is significantly more durable, with a bigger mana pool to work with.

Her new Recursive facet is amazing as well. Having Winter Curse jump between targets can turn games around, winning team fights and securing objectives. The other facet seems lackluster in comparison and we recommend steering clear of it.

In the previous patches, Wisdom Runes were relatively easy to steal, which greatly nullified Eldwurm Scholar. Now that wisdom shrines exist, players are far more likely to benefit from Wyvern's innate ability.

Overall, thanks to better stat growth, amazing new facet, and overall map changes, Winter Wyvern is one of the best hard supports to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.38. We are not surprised her win rate jumped to 54% in the Immortal bracket.

Silencer

Silencer is great support for grinding mmr dota 2 patch 7.38. The old Curse and Word combo is back and it's better than ever. (Credit: Valve).

Silencer lost his awful old aura and got Last Word back to being an active ability. It combos well with Arcane Curse to provide incredible damage.

A level seven Silencer deals 500 damage with his Curse and Word combo. At level 11, with both spells maxed out and the curse talent, that increases to an incredible 875 to the affected unit, more if Global Silence is used.

It's no wonder that the 0.5 Arcane Curse talent has a 57% win rate. The damage it deals is absurd, and when combined with an Aghanim Scepter, Silencer dishes out 360 damage to every enemy with his ultimate, along with a powerful slow.

The hero also has a stronger laning stage, with Glaives of Wisdom dealing nearly double damage at level one. Players tend to brawl more early in a patch's life, which suits Silencer very well.

We recommend rushing his Shard and spamming his ultimate on any dying enemy, as you get assist gold and steal intelligence on enemies affected by your debuffs. An early Aghanim's greatly boosts his team fight contributions.

Silencer is in a really strong spot right now, and with the right items, can win 2/3 games. We highly recommend him as a support to grind MMR right now.

Abaddon

Abaddon is one of the best supports for grinding mmr in Dota 2 patch 7.38. Not the best innate, but still a great support.

A hero that functions as both an offlaner and support, Abaddon was slated to get nerfs yet somehow is better than ever.

As a support, the damage lost per level isn't a big deal, especially when the hero starts with 10 (!) more damage at level one. He can harass significantly better now, and he has a multitude of Orbs to buy early to help.

In return for insignificant damage loss, Abaddon has much better stat growth, similar to Winter Wyvern. It all leads to making the hero tankier with more mana to work with.

The Quickening is also better now, and while it's probably still the weaker facet, it is certainly usable. Getting a free Shield and Coil each time a hero dies is very powerful, and easier to sustain with the hero's bigger mana pool.

Abaddon is a strong hero with an improved laning phase and stat growth. Despite being OP in the previous patch, he remains as strong or even stronger as a support in Dota 2 patch 7.38.
