The Best Mid Lane Heroes to Grind MMR in Dota 2 Patch 7.38b
Dota 2 patch 7.38 has been out for a while and we are getting a clearer look at the best and worst heroes of the patch. This includes the mid-lane, the most skill based match-up in the early game.
In this list, we will go through the three best heroes for you to grind MMR in the mid lane for patch 7.38b. These heroes are selected not just for their effectiveness, but also for being accessible to players.
The three best midlaners in Dota 2 patch 7.38b
Huskar

The quintessential cheese pick is more viable than ever. Huskar's new facet in patch 7.38 allows the hero to be even more aggressive.
Let's start by reiterating that Huskar remains an extremely dominant mid laner. He wins every match up against melee heroes and even ranged staples such as Storm, Puck, and Queen of Pain suffer tremendously against him. The hero trades well with Burning Spears, while a bracer and Berserker's Blood are usually enough to sustain him.
Huskar is also an independent mid. He doesn't need supports to secure runes, and he is fairly durable to enemy ganks. This makes him an ideal choice for grinding MMR, where allies can be as problematic as enemies.
The standard item build is to rush Armlet for an early power spike, then Sange and Yasha and Black King Bar for defense. An Aghanim's Scepter allows him to lock down key targets in fights. The order of items vary but you'll always have these four at some point.
A powerful laner who scales well into the late game while being unkillable. It's no wonder Huskar has a 53% win rate in Immortal games, a perfect mid for grinding MMR in patch 7.38b.
Ember Spirit

While he isn't the power house laner that Huskar is, Ember Spirit makes up for it with great spread damage, AoE lockdown, and incredible mobility.
Ember Spirit does well in every mid match-up, except for the heroes on this list. He can dodge attacks and spells with Sleight of Fist and run enemies down with Flame Guard and Chains if they overstep.
The current item build for Ember Spirit is Orb of Corrosion, Mage Slayer, and Sange and Yasha. It's affordable and deals great damage, while reducing the magical output from enemies. The extra strength from Sange also goes a long way to mitigating the hero's main weakness.
Ember is a suitable choice for tempo mids who want to grind MMR. He is extremely strong and hard to catch in the mid-game, but falters past the 35 minute mark. Enemies become more durable and items such as Euls, Atos, and Hex shut him down.
But most games end before that and in the right hands, Ember Spirit is one of the best midlaners in Dota 2 patch 7.38b.
Tinker

Like everyone who plays Dota 2, we despise playing against Tinker. Hell, even playing him isn't fun.
But there is no denying that the hero is in an incredibly strong spot right now. His laser is stronger than ever, with 15% health reduction thanks to Aghanim's Scepter. That is a massive damage buff, and percentage damage is a threat at all stages of the game.
Tinker's damage is incredible, but it's his durability that's the main problem. Defense Matrix simply does too much. It blocks 320 (395 with talent) damage, with 30% (40%) status resistance. Translocator teleports him when the shield pops AND dispels him. How's that for balanced?
Catching Tinker is hard, but even when caught, the hero is far too durable. Tinker can solo carry games if un-countered, and that's why he has a positive win rate across all brackets.
With Laser he shreds heroes, with March he farms fast, and with Defense Matrix he is unkillable. If you can master Tinker, you can climb all the way to Immortal and beyond. We won't like you for spamming him, but we respect the hustle.
And that's our list for the best mids to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.38b. Good luck and let us know if you think someone else is worth picking.
