The new Fifth: G2 Gozen adds Roxi as the fifth member of the Valorant Squad
On March 7th, G2 Gozen announced the departure of Juliano from the roster. The squad’s IGL returned to playing CS:GO for G2 Esports under the new team G2 Oya along with zAAz. After Juliano’s departure, the G2 Gozen squad sought a new fifth. Last Night, G2 Valorant’s (@g2valorant) Official Twitter announced the addition of Vivian “Roxi” Schilling (@roxi_hime) as the new fifth.
G2 Gozen Valorant:
The G2 Gozen Valorant Squad existed in 2021 when G2 signed the Originals to the roster. The Original F/A team consisted of zAAz, Juliano, Mimi, Petra and anNja. The roster quickly rose to the top of VCT GC EMEA and maintained its supremacy for two years. In 2022, just before the first international VCT GC Championship, zAAZ announced her retirement from Valorant competitive.
To fill in the void left by zAAz, G2 brought in Mary. With Mary on the roster, G2 struggled to find footing initially. They lost to Guild for the first time in 2 years at the VCT GC EMEA III Grand finals. Going into the first International tournament as the second seed from EMEA had multiple people doubt G2 Gozen. But after a win over Cloud9 White, the only other equally dominant GC team, G2 re-established itself as the top team.
G2 Gozen went on to win the whole event with Mary and became the first Valorant GC champion. With the 2023 GC season ahead, G2 announced Juliano’s departure from the roster, which shocked everyone. Juliano was an integral part of G2’s success and the IGL for the team. Juliano was soon announced to be leading the CS:GO division of G2 instead.
With Juliano gone, G2 needed a strong fifth. Guild’s Roxi filled the gap left by Juliano. Roxi and Glance were teammates on Guild X’s first team.
Who is Roxi?
Vivian “Roxi” Schilling is a former CS:GO player and Guild X’s Killjoy main. Roxi was integral to Guild X’s tournament run to win over G2 and the 5th-6th finish at the first international GC LAN. With Roxi on the roster, the G2 Gozen squad will be as follows:
- Petra “Petra” Stroker
- Michaela “Mimi” Lintrup
- Anastasiya “Glance” Anisimova
- Maryam “Mary” Maher
- Vivian “Roxi” Schilling
Petra will likely be the squad’s IGL, with Mimi as the co-IGL. Glance will continue to be the team’s Controller, with Petra playing the recon role. Mary will take on the primary Duelist role for the team, which Juliano previously held. Roxi will likely play a Sentinel. For the current Valorant meta, the G2 Gozen squad seems to be set and will be a top contender in EMEA GC and win a second GC championship.
The new G2 Gozen will be seen competing in the upcoming Valorant Game Changers EMEA.
