"They are Perfect" EG Boostio after Fnatic won VCT Masters Tokyo
Yesterday, The entire world and the Makuhari Messe witnessed Valorant history in making. For the first time since the dawn of Valorant Esports, A team won two back-to-back international trophies. At the VCT Masters Tokyo, Boaster-led Fnatic defeated Evil Geniuses to become the repeat international tournament winners. The best-of-five series ended with Fnatic winning the game 3-0. After the game, both the teams attended the press conference and were asked some burning questions from the members of the press. Following is Strafe's excerpt from the same press conf.
Q. (For EG Potter) What were the biggest learnings for Evil Geniuses from Master Tokyo? What would you improve on coming into Valorant Champions?
EG Potter: “I think what the team would want to improve would be a little bit different than what I would want to improve. I think that the first things that come to my mind are the anti-ecos for some reason for me. In this tournament it felt like we were always broke, that just kinda feeling that I have got. But it’s great you know, the kinds of duels we are choosing to take and are constantly faced with, were things that we needed as individuals and as a team. So it kinda makes sense why we were broke the whole time. But yeah, when we go back, we’ll take a look at how we can be a little bit more calculated with our money.”
Q. (For EG Boostio) What do you think was the deciding factor today in today’s loss against Fnatic?
EG Boostio: “I think they were just more confident, when it came to certain timings and duels. I felt like I personally wasn’t playing the best. They are just, They are perfect and if you are not playing at your best, you are going to auto-lose. And they are by far the best team in the world, there is no question about that. So if you are not playing perfectly, to your highest standard then there is just no way you are going to win a map against them.”
Q. (For Fnatic Mini) Can you reflect on the tournament (VCT Masters Tokyo), the Good things, the bad things, just overall summarise the tournament for the team?
Fnatic Mini: “From us the good things were, we prepared really well. We practised really well despite a lot of circumstances not being too good. There were a lot of issues with practice just like practically speaking and I am not really sure what else to say. It was really nice, like Boaster said, in an arena where the fans are actually cheering for you, a little bit more and that’s really nice. I think the Japanese fans are by far my favourite. I think they are really respectful, they know when to cheer when not to cheer, it is quite nice.
Bad things, Although we did do quite well with the practice, I do think, there were moments when I was a bit frustrated with us, so that’s something we’d debrief about. Some Days just not being as on it as the others day but in the end it worked out well.”
Q. What precautions is Fnatic taking to ensure the trophy reaches home safely?
Fnatic Boaster: “We are going to leave it here, No”
Fnatic Mini: “I don’t know, that’s not my job to be honest.”
Q. (For Leo) You had an MVP-level tournament throughout the tournament. How do you maintain the level of calmness throughout the different circumstances?
Fnatic Leo: “Uhm Baiting. No it’s the, it’s starting your daily routine and making practice similar to the games. And then when you actually get to play these games, it’s like you have done it before and Just no reason to be nervous or anything. It is to do what I do everyday Kinda.”
The whole team agreed on Alfajer as the team’s MVP for VCT Masters Tokyo, with Alfajer saying Leo is the MVP. Going into Champions Fnatic will still be the team to beat, especially with them only showing a fraction of what they are capable of. Throughout the event, Fnatic only played four maps and won the tournament. The team will only get stronger as the flexibility would ensure, they have players to play with any agent available. Once again, Congratulations to the best Valorant team in the world.
