Thiolicor and Shopify Rebellion Go Their Separate Ways
After five months with the North American squad Shopify Rebellion, Brazilian support Thiago "Thiolicor" de Oliveira Cordeiro has left the team.
With nearly a third of the Dota 2 competitive year over, teams have little time to rack up the tournament wins necessary to qualify for The International 13 and Riyadh Masters 2024. Time will tell who this change helps the most.
Thiolicor helped Shopify qualify for three major events
Since joining the team in November 2023, Thiolicor has been instrumental in Shopify's success. The team qualified for ESL One Birmingham, DreamLeague Seasons 22 and 23 with his help.
The only tournament they failed to join was BetBoom Dacha Dubai, but that was the team's first closed qualifier event and likely growing pains is why they couldn't make the cut.
While competing, Thiago often had standout performances, generally going above and beyond the call of duty. It's an interesting change to the roster.
Dota 2 pros indicate that Arteezy might be the problem
In their recent winner interview at ESL Birmingham, the captain of Team Falcons suggested that the carry player of Shopify Rebellion is stuck in North America and might need to leave it soon.
"It has to be Arteezy, once he escapes the NA jail, just like me and Cr1t-, he's next." - Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu.
At the moment it seems Shopify has no intention of letting Artour "Arteezy" Babaev go, he has been playing in North America for his entire career and shows no signs of leaving the region anytime soon.
It'll be interesting to see who Shopify recruits next, the team will be competing soon at PGL Wallachia Season 1 which begins on May 10th.
