Timado on OG: "Everyone here is insanely good at the game"
OG is the only team in the ongoing DreamLeague Season 22 playing with a stand-in player. The team has been performing well in the tournament despite the setback and has made it to the second group stage of DreamLeague Season 22. After their winning series against Shopify Rebellion, Enzo "Timado" Gianoli, sat down for an interview.
The player discusses how the team communicates with him during drafts for the team’s playstyle. Additionally, he suggests that OG may be hiding some strategies to reveal later in the tournament.
Timado on Sven
Valve released a minor patch update before the start of DreamLeague Season 22, nerfing and buffing some heroes. As a result of the recent patch’s update, Sven has become one of the meta-heroes yet again.
Despite Sven being one of the most sought-after heroes at the tournament, OG has yet to pick him. Thus, when Neal "Tsunami" Khandheria, one of the analysts, asked Timado why OG was not picking Sven, the player shared his thoughts.
The player agreed that Sven is viable in the current meta. Additionally, he thinks that Aghanim Scepter built on Sven got buffed, fixing some of the issues that the hero has in the past.
“I think the Aghanims build got buff recently, and it kinda fixes a lot of Sven issues. It changed the dynamics of the hero and a lot of weaknesses that you used to be able to abuse. Now he just overcomes them once he hits his timing.”
Why OG Is Not Playing Sven
Additionally, the player admitted to playing Sven in a practice match with OG. However, he went on to say that he is not playing the hero in the official matches because he is not feeling it.
“I think we haven’t played it ‘cause there’s a bit of synergy with heroes and preference. I like Sven, I’m fine with Sven, we’ve played in scrim before and stuff so it’s not like we can’t play Sven. I think anyone can play Sven but I don’t know. I don’t have so much fun, I usually have some flavour of the month, so I kind of push for these heroes.”
Timado on his impact with drafts
Playing with a standin, OG has to come up with new strategies and playstyles at the last minute. In his interview, Timado reveals how he communicates with the team he is standing in for the drafting phase for his hero. The player usually gave multiple options, highlighting the hero’s strengths. Additionally, he revealed that he had a lot of input in choosing which hero to play. If he requests a specific hero, OG would usually let him play the requested hero.
“I usually see the heroes, and I tell them what I think is good for me, and I’ll tell them the reasons. I see this hero for this reason, and I see all these heroes for this reason. I usually gave a bunch of options, and we kinda discuss.”
Timado's thoughts on OG
OG had a tough year in 2023 and that trend continued in 2024. The team faced several disappointing results in LAN events. As a result, the team benched their safelaner and played with a stand-in at DreamLeague Season 22.
Timado said OG is a fantastic team. Additionally, he praised everyone on OG for their in-game performance and the team’s attitude towards each other. The player later reveals that he is contributing to OG in an unusual way.
“ This team is super good. Everyone here is insanely good at the game, and they have an amazing attitude. So, I feel like what I am contributing the most is sometimes just a bit of the will to win.”
OG is currently in a tie with Gaimin Gladiators for third place in the second stage of DreamLeague Season 22. The team's upcoming match is against Aurora.
