Tundra Esports' revamped roster already "haunting" many players
Tundra Esports recently revamped their roster ahead of The International 2023, adding the legendary midlaner Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen. Although this revamped roster of Tundra has not debuted in any of the official matches yet, it’s already scaring a lot of professional players. Recently, in an interview with a news Russian news outlet, a veteran player and captain of the 9 Pandas came out, sharing his experience facing the revamp Tundra Esports in one of his practice skirmishes.
The Interview
In the interview, Alexey "Solo" Berezin, the captain of 9 Pandas, stated it was brutal out there as they trained with Tundra Esports. He continued to say Topson is in his prime form and is untouchable.
The player also praises the team’s former midlaner, Leon "Nine" Kirilin, on filling in Martin "Saksa" Sazdov’s shoes. He said Nine has his own heroes pool for the role, such as Dark Willow and Skywrath Mage. Solo also thinks Saksa is helping Nine out somehow. Regardless of other’s opinions, Alexey is positive that Tundra Esports has made the right move ahead of TI, as the team has gained a competitive edge from the roster shuffle.
Different Playstyles
There is nothing mentioned in the interview about the team’s playstyle. Topias has been known for his tempo-controlling playstyle since his debut on OG. The player allows his team to farm as he wrecks the enemies across the map after the end of the laning stage, giving space to his cores. The player would often play hero can catch backlines, taking out the crucial backliners during skirmishes.
On the other hand, Tundra is known for their late game and their synergised team fights. Although they are vulnerable to fast-paced playstyles, the team can easily withstand playstyles that go into the late game. Tundra is also known for its itemisation as well. During their Internationals 2022 run, the team itemised around Wriath Pact, making it the meta item. The playstyle eventually makes them The International 2022 Champions. The revamp Tundra Esports will debut in DreamLeague Season 21.
