Neon meta incoming? Agent changes coming with VALORANT Patch 8.11
Earlier today, Riot Games provided fans with a sneak peek upcoming VALORANT Patch 8.11 changes. As previously dicussed during the dev diaries, these changes represents the latest slew of changes in the developer's ongoing efforts to balance the agents.
This time, the adjustments have been centred around Iso, Neon, Reyna, Raze, and Clove. Here’s a detailed look at the agent changes that have been confirmed to be in the new patch:
VALORANT Agent Updates Overview
The primary focus of Patch 8.11 is to enable more Duelists to compete effectively with top-tier agents like Jett and Raze. The adjustments aim to provide these agents with unique playstyles that allow them to excel at taking space for their team. Here’s a closer look at the specific changes for each agent.
Iso
Iso is receiving a notable buff to his Double Tap (E) ability, which will now grant a shield upon finishing a one-second animation. This shield activation will produce a sound, alerting players to its presence. Key changes include:
- Charges Reduced: From 2 to 1.
- Kill Reset: Iso regains a charge if he gets 2 kills.
- Shield and Wall Penetration: Upon shield break, Iso now has a Wall Penetration tag instead of Heavy Penetration, reducing slowdown.
- Damage Indicator: Iso gets a damage indicator in the direction of the enemy that broke his shield.
- Recast Ability: Iso can refresh the shield’s duration by recasting Double Tap during its active period.
These changes increase the effectiveness of his signature ability, making him more reliable in challenging contested spaces and winning opening duels.
By granting his shield immediately after channeling the ability, Iso can better secure these critical engagements and provide a stronger presence on the battlefield.
Neon
Riot is adjusting Neon's abilities to improve her combat efficiency and reduce visual noise for her teammates. Key changes include making her slide more effective for direct combat engagements.
- Fast Lane (C): The wall now dissipates from behind to minimize visual noise, with an updated audio cue that travels with the fade-out.
- Wall Duration: Reduced from 6 seconds to 4 seconds.
- Wall Dissolve Duration: Increased from 1 second to 2 seconds.
- High Gear (E):
-
- Sprint: Neon’s strafe speed is no longer reduced while sprinting. Her max sprint speed while moving sideways increases from 6.73 to 9.11 meters/second.
- Fuel Regen: Time until full fuel regeneration is reduced from 60 seconds to 20 seconds.
- Slide: Slide charges increased from 1 to 2. Neon’s weapon movement error is removed during the slide, improving accuracy.
By removing all weapon movement error when sliding, Neon becomes more combat-ready, allowing her to slide directly into opponents with improved accuracy and efficiency.
- Relay Bolt (Q):
-
- Charges: Reduced from 2 to 1.
- Windup Delay: Reduced from 1.1 seconds to 0.8 seconds.
- Concuss Duration: Increased from 3.0 seconds to 3.5 seconds.
Neon's Relay Bolt has been refined into "a more premium and reliable one-charge ability." This should allow for more success when committing to fights, and it should also create more room for the second slide charge.
Reyna
Reyna is receiving a mix of buffs and nerfs this patch to reshape the overall power of her kit. Her updates include:
- Dismiss (E):
-
- Speed: Increased from 9.1 meters/second to 12 meters/second.
- Duration: Reduced from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
Riot has re-tuned the Dismiss ability to offer a greater movement speed boost but with a shorter duration, rewarding decisive and skillful players with faster and more powerful repositioning options.
- Devour (Q):
-
- Healing: Reduced from 100 to 50.
- Full Heal Time: Reduced from 3 seconds to 2 seconds.
- Overheal Armor: No longer decays after a timer.
- Empress (X): No longer has a timer and remains active until Reyna is killed or the round ends.
Removing the time restrictions on her Devour and Empress provides players with more flexibility to align with their team’s pace, enhancing their value in slower, coordinated rounds.
Raze
Raze’s changes are designed to allow more counterplay against her aggressive playstyle. Updates include:
- Blast Pack (Q):
-
- Satchels: No longer explode for damage/knockback upon opponent destruction.
- Horizontal Velocity: Reduced horizontal velocity during satcheling.
- Explosion Audio: Updated to be audible from farther away.
Clove
Riot Games is adjusting Clove's abilities to balance their Duelist-oriented outputs while maintaining their Controller utility. Changes include:
- Pick-Me-Up (C):
-
-
- Cost: Increased from 100 to 200.
- Duration: Reduced from 10 seconds to 8 seconds.
- Damaging Assist Time: Reduced from 10 seconds to 6 seconds.
-
- Not Dead Yet (X):
-
-
- Cost: Increased from 7 to 8.
- Unequip Delay: Increased from 0.7 to 0.8 seconds.
-
- Bug Fix: Clove’s ultimate will no longer survive the fighting state if they get a smoke assist.
Map Changes
In addition to the agent updates, Patch 8.11 will also feature changes to the game’s map pool. The map pool will include Haven once again, along with a new map. These will replace Breeze and Split, ensuring fresh and exciting gameplay environments for players. Additionally, modes excluding competitive to feature all the 11 VALORANT maps including the upcoming map.
