Before you get into the scene, perhaps an opportunity to learn who these teams and players are would serve you well.

Who are the VCT China Teams?

VCT China teams are the ten partner organizations selected by Riot Games to be the first wave of teams to populate their newest league in the China circuit. Joining them is Dragon Ranger Gaming, winner of the first VCT China Ascension tournament.

With their victory, they earned the right to compete in the VCT China circuit alongside the other ten teams for 2 years, alongside all other rights of partner teams including profit shares and allowances from Riot.

All Gamers

All Gamers is a popular Chinese esports organization that gained renown for their success in Crossfire, a tactical FPS title ubiquitously played across China and parts of Asia. The game draws the most similarities with Counter-Strike, a more well-known title in Western countries.

All 6 players come into VALORANT as their first professional title and come with the sincere backing of a strong organization name and history. While they have struggled in the recent FGC Open Qualifiers – placing 9th-12th – there is still plenty of room to grow in this new league’s infancy.

Time will tell if All Gamers can become a strong contender in this new era of professional VALORANT.

Bilibili Gaming

Bilibili Gaming was created by Chinese video-sharing website Bilibili. Formed originally for competition in League of Legends, they have since expanded their esports roster to include other titles including VALORANT. They are most well-known for their one international stint, competing in VCT Champions 2023.

Two of their members – Biank and yosemite – trace their esports careers back to Counter-Strike. The others, have VALORANT as their first game. Nevertheless, BLG has quickly become one of the more well-known names connected to Chinese VALORANT and already have a proven track record against international competition.

EDward Gaming

EDward Gaming first entered the esport scene in League of Legends. Having earned much renown in that game, they have since expanded into other esports titles. Currently, their VALORANT roster is known as one of the best collection of talent assembled from the region.

EDG is perhaps the most dominant team in Chinese VALORANT currently. Their roster has earned the most accolades by far of all the Chinese roster and have also accrued the deepest runs at international events.

In addition, domestically, they have also consistently proven themselves to be the most battle-hardened roster, having walked away with a trifecta of win in the VALORANT China Evolution Series.

FunPlus Phoenix

Created by video game developer FunPlus, FunPlus Phoenix is well-established and widely recognized brand in the esports community. Despite the following in League of Legends, their EU roster was well-established in the earlier days of VALORANT as well.

Having now transitioned back to their Chinese roots, FPX is poised to have a strong following heading into the new year of competition.

The FPX roster is an eclectic mix of talent, stemming from China to Taiwan to Australia and thus far have had two international showings in the VALORANT circuit. Moreover, despite being a fairly new and young roster, the FPX team is poised to evolve at a rapid rate, much like the other Chinese teams that have ventured beyond their domestic borders.

JD Gaming

Formed by e-commerce company JD.com, JD Gaming is a relative newcomer to the VALORANT scene. Most well-known for their League of Legends team, the second latest iteration of the roster went nearly undefeated throughout 2023, falling only at the very end to the eventual winners of Worlds.

Having competed in the China Evolution series in 2023, JDG failed to do well. However, their roster now consists of the former Rare Atom members – a team that was consistently considered the second best in China for most of 2023, promising a lustrous new chapter for JDG.

Nova Esports

A newcomer to VALORANT, Nova Esports is most well-known for their hosts of roster in mobile esports titles – including Wild Rift, PUBG, and Honor of Kings.

Featuring players new to the highest level of professional VALORANT, Nova Esports has a daunting mountain ahead of them. However, coming in as one of the most popular mobile esports roster will set them in good stead with a solid fan following.

TYLOO

While other roster may have built a foundation in other genres, TYLOO was forged and hardened in the field of tactical FPS. Recognized as one of the pioneers of the Chinese Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene, TYLOO has consistently fielded some of the best talent China had to offer in years past, and those names have gone on to garner recognition within the region.

Featuring a mix of former CSGO talent and new VALORANT blood, TYLOO is here to storm the breach. At the latest China Evolution Series, they came in 7th-8th. Not spectacular but fairly impressive considering the depth of talent this new region already has to offer.

Titan Esports Club

Coming in with a rich PUBG background, Titan Esports Club now makes their foray into the highest level of professional Chinese VALORANT.

With a young roster of talent, Titan has much to do to garner recognition in VALORANT. However, they have already made some ways with that by picking up decorated Korean veteran Rb. Moreover, they placed 5th-6th at their last event, the China Evolution Series. Keep an eye on this electric team, they might just surprise.

Trace Esports

Forming a base in Wild Rift, Trace Esports is another roster to make the leap to VALORANT. Not only were they immensely successful in Wild Rift, but they also now bring that experience to another, larger Riot IP.

Likewise, they are already considered one of the strongest Chinese rosters, having placed 4th place at the latest China Evolution Series tournament. New does not equate to weak in books, Trace is here to play.

Wolves Esports

Call of Duty Mobile. Rainbow Six Siege. A wealth of tactical FPS experience comes to VCT China in the form of Wolves esports. Highly acclaimed in the games they play, Wolves has proven devastatingly effective at any FPS title they set their resources to.

Furthermore, while they may not have done well at the China Evolution Series, the roster now seen is a completely revamped one. 8 new signed players including seasoned international competitors, Wolves Esports is set to take the Chinese scene by storm.

Dragon Ranger Gaming

Coming in from Arena of Valor, a MOBA title in a similar vein to League of Legends. Dragon Ranger Gaming may be new to the tactical FPS scene but make no mistake, they have already bared their fangs.

Being the first team to qualify for VCT China through Ascension, Dragon Ranger overcame heavy favorites Rare Atom in the finals to make into the league. Before that, they were consistently a threat in the final China Evolution Series, only falling short in the main event. Despite that, DRG is not to be underestimated, as Rare Atom found out only too late.
