Valve, the developers of Counter-Strike, have made a significant move by discontinuing support for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) on MacOS. This decision is part of a larger transition as Counter-Strike moves into its highly anticipated next phase, which includes ending support for DirectX 9, Mac systems, and 32-bit operating systems. Refunds for Prime Status Users

For players who have already invested in Prime Status within the Source 2 update, there is a silver lining. Valve is offering refunds to individuals who purchased Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or CS2 between March 22 and September 27 on Mac systems. Affected players have until December 1 to claim their refunds, providing a fair resolution for those who may no longer be able to enjoy the game on their preferred platform.

Legacy Version Available

While support for CS2 on Mac has come to an end, Valve is not leaving MacOS users completely in the lurch. A legacy version of CS:GO will remain accessible, allowing players to reminisce about the game's glory days. However, it's important to note that this legacy version will not receive any further updates.

CS:GO Server Shutdown

As of today, a countdown has begun for the CS:GO servers, and they are slated to cease operation on 1st January, 2024. Consequently, the frozen version of CS:GO will be devoid of matchmaking services. While players will still have the option to participate in private servers, Valve's official lobbies will be removed.

Valve's commitment to improving the player experience is evident, as they are quick to address issues such as hitbox problems. In a recent update, Valve fixed a hitbox issue where players could crouch and keep their heads down, causing their hitbox to move incorrectly. This problem had gained attention on social media, and Valve's swift action to resolve it demonstrates their dedication to the game's integrity.
