EG to Grand Finals!!: VCT Masters Tokyo Lower Bracket Finals Recap
In the Lower Bracket Finals of VCT Masters Tokyo, Evil Geniuses managed to take the win against Paper Rex in a thrilling 5 map saga. The North American outfit secured their spot in the Grand Finals after winning 3-2 in the series. They will face Fnatic once again in the Grand Finals, and will have a shot at revenge.

Map 1: Fracture
Evil Geniuses continue their undefeated run on Fracture, as they have yet to lose on this map in this entire tournament. EG started off strong in the first half. PRX were only allowed 3 rounds, as EG showed off a stellar defense to end the first half at 9-3. PRX tried to mount a comeback, as they managed to take 4 of the 5 rounds as the second half started. But EG quickly shut it down, as they took the 3 rounds required to end the map 13-7.
Map 2: Lotus
PRX hit back on Lotus. Even though they conceded the first two rounds of the map, they pulled off a 7 round win streak. EG managed to take the remaining rounds to end the first half at 7-5. EG had a much better second half. Although PRX Managed to get to Map Point first, EG managed to push the map into Overtime. However, this was a fruitless endeavor, as PRX took both rounds of Overtime to take the map 14-12.
Map 3: Split
EG had a strong start on Split. They mounted a superb defense and pulled off a 5 round win streak to take the lead in the first half at 8-4. However, PRX one upped them as they showed off an even better defensive side. Pulling off a 5 round win streak right off the bat, PRX only allowed EG to take 2 rounds in the half. The Pacific Champions managed to make the comeback possible, as they won the map 13-10 in astounding fashion.
Map 4: Pearl
The teams were inseparable from each other in the first half of Pearl. Both teams were trading rounds back and forth, as the first half ended 7-5 in favor of EG. the second half was anything but balanced, as EG showed off a strong attack. They won 6 out the 7 rounds played in the second half. Taking 2 separate 3 round streaks, EG won the map 13-6 in quite the dominant fashion.
Map 5: Ascent
EG had quite the dominant strat on Ascent. Although PRX managed to take the first 3 rounds, EG answered back with an 8 round win streak on the defense. PRX managed to take the final round of the half to end the half at 8-4. Both teams traded rounds back and forth in the second half, but it was EG who came out on top. The North American won the 5 rounds needed in the second half to take the map 13-8.
Paper Rex were eliminated from VCT Masters Tokyo in 3rd place, and it is a terrific result for the Pacific Champions, seeing as they were playing with a stand-in.
Evil Geniuses will have another shot against Fnatic for the title of VCT Masters Tokyo winners.
