WEU DPC Spring Tour: The Action Begins
Gaimin Gladiators walked away with 400 DPC points, beating 17 of the best teams from the world at The Lima Major. However, as the new chapter unfolds, teams are again given a fresh start to show their strength, strategy and potential at the Spring Tour. The Spring Tour will conclude in April with The Berlin Major, hosted by ESL One.
The Division I playoffs started in most regions. With teams looking for redemption and revenge, the action unfolded in Western Europe was what fans wanted to see.
Tundra Esports Vs OG
Starting things off for the Spring Tour, fans got treated to the absolute banger of the series- Tundra Esports vs OG. In game 1, Tundra drafted a Gyrocopter hard support. OG dominated the early game and the game was in OG’s control. As the game progressed, Tundra squeezed into any opening they could find.
At 27 minutes, OG made a crucial mistake protecting their support, Monkey King. Tundra made OG pay hefty for their attempts, taking the team’s hard carry, Naga Siren, offlane Dawn Breaker, and the Monkey King. From there onwards, OG’s game plan started to collapse. At 36 minutes, with a net worth lead of 24 K gold, Tundra closed out game 1.
In game 2, BZM played marvellously with his midlane Ember Spirit, creating momentum for his team and space for his hard carry, Terrorblade. As soon as everyone from Tundra hits their item timing, the pressure from OG falls off. OG tried to maintain their lead, but they accidentally threw everything they worked for with their 40 minutes high-ground push. Tundra was able to punish OG for their greed, closing out game 2 at 43 minutes.
Team Liquid Vs Gaimin Gladiators
The rematch of The Lima Major grand-finals was the most anticipated match of the day. Eyes were on Team Liquid as the team is back with Boxi. Game 1 was a complete stomp by Gaimin Gladiators as Quinn played brilliantly on his signature Puck. Game 1 ended at 27 minutes with a score of 6 - 27, favouring Gaimin Gladiators.
In game 2, Team Liquid puts on a stronger showing, drafting a hard-carry Spectre for GG’s hard-carry sniper. Even though the laning stage went well for Team Liquid, GG stepped up their action in the midgame. As GG’s looked for pickoffs, Team Liquid responded to GG’s aggressiveness. However, a smoke gank at Sniper at 31 minutes heavily back-fired at Team Liquid as the entire Gaimin Gladiators responded to the gank. Gaimin Gladiators eventually ended game 2 at 33 minutes with a Rampage on their offlane Nature’s Prophet.
