Despite the changes introduced by Dota 2 patch 7.32e, people continue to spam Treant Protector in pubs. And it’s understandable why.

This hero has remarkable strengths for this meta. He will keep his teammates alive for much longer during the laning stage skirmishes and he will also prevent his tier 1 towers from getting destroyed too early.

How Popular Is Treant Protector in Pubs

Right now, Treant is a top 10 hero and his pick rate is higher than 10%. This will not change for the foreseeable future because the last Dota 2 patch wasn’t big enough to significantly change the meta.

At the recent Lima Major, competitors like Team Liquid picked Treant Protector many times and mostly succeeded with him. The community usually copies what the best players do, so expect lots of Treant spammers in your pubs.

What Makes Treant Protector a Great Support Hero

Treant Protector currently has a high win rate in pubs (52%+) and the reason for that is not that hard to grasp. His level 1 right-click damage is one of the highest in the game, which means that few heroes can engage him in a duel.

This gives Treant players the possibility to harass enemies starting at level 1 and guarantee themselves favorable trades. In most cases, you will skill Leech Seed and then proceed to maximize Living Armor because it’s simply too good. By the time you’re level 5, every opponent needs to run away when you want to start a fight.

That’s because you have +8 armor for 25 seconds, as well as +5 HP regen. Together with the rest of your items, this ability should make you invincible, especially if you play against heroes that mostly rely on physical damage during the laning stage.

Another thing that makes you powerful in the first 10 minutes of the game is your ability to create a 100 – 600+ HP difference between yourself and your chosen target. Leech Seed not only deals damage over 5 seconds. It also heals you for the same amount.

For this reason, you should consider putting 2 points in it instead of the recommended 1. But it all depends on how much you need to be involved in actual fights. In most cases, you’ll be fighting a lot to give space to your carry.

In the mid and late game, you can stay hidden most of the time and assist your team from afar. This is one of the most overpowered things about Treant: Living Armor is a global ability.
