Four Reasons to master Morphling in Dota 2
Dota 2 is known for its complexity. The game features more than 120 unique characters. Some of them are known for their complex mechanical skills, and Morphling is one of them.
The agility hero is one of the stable picks in high-level pubs and professional matches. In this article, we will explore why the hero is worth mastering.
Waveform Offers Mobility
Few heroes can get out of trouble swiftly in Dota 2, and Morphling is one of them. His first ability, Waveform, can be used both offensively and defensively.
As a defensive ability, it is a great escape tool for unfavourable situations. In addition to that, it can also be used as an initiating tool to take out the backline heroes as an offensive ability.
Waveform grants invulnerability during usage, making it a great tool to dodge incoming single-target spells in style. At level 20, players can opt to choose “Waveform Attacks Targets” talent for the ability to deal massive damage.
Adaptive Strike Excels at Trading
A lot of veteran players may know Morphling from his shotgun days. The hero got his nickname mainly due to his second ability, Adaptive Strike.
Safelaners often have trouble during the laning stage because most of them lack a trading ability. Fortunately, Morph has it covered with Adaptive Strike.
The agility variant of Adaptive strike deals damage based on the hero's agility. With a low mana cost and a twelve-second cooldown, the ability is ideal for trading. The ability can also used to secure the last hit on range creeps during the laning stage.
The strength version of this ability stuns while knocking back the target. The stun lasts a minimum of half a second and a maximum of two and a half seconds. When the strength is higher than the hero's agility, the stun will last longer.
Attribute Shift Wins Lanes
Many heroes in Dota 2's safelane cannot respond to surprise ganks. Morphling is an exception to this rule. The hero can escape from a gank, receiving minimum damage. Furthermore, he can also take advantage of the situation by using his third ability, Attribute Shift, to turn the tides.
His third ability allows the hero to shift between his Agility and Strength attributes. The hero gains additional damage and attack speed if he has more Agility and more HP if Morph has more Strength. A skilled Morphling player can seamlessly shift between attributes, making them a threat throughout the game.
A Better Spellstealer than Rubick
In Dota 2, Rubick's ultimate ability allows the hero to steal the abilities his opponents last used. Morphling's ultimate allows him to steal his opponent's entire form.
While in his opponent's form, the hero can also use the basic abilities his opponent possesses.
The hero's ultimate ability is handy in many situations. After initiating an attack, Morph can take over the form of a hero with escaping abilities to evade the enemy.
Alternatively, Morph can transform into a hero with an area-of-effect lockdown ability, allowing his team to win the skirmish. The potential uses for this ability are vast. It just depends on the player playing Morphling.
