The Grand Finals of Worlds 2023 featured Weibo Gaming and Korea’s only hope in T1. The game featured the greatest player in the world, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, on his quest to break another record. After the dust settled, Faker and co. took down China’s Weibo Gaming to secure T1 and Faker’s fourth Worlds title.

The record breaking game was one of the best moments in League of Legends history. With the win, Faker is now the oldest player to win a Worlds title, along with being the youngest ever to win the title. This moment was not only cherished by League and esports fans but the Korean Government.

The President of Korea, Yoon Suk-heol congratulated the roster for bringing home the much needed Worlds 2023 trophy home.

While the Korean Government appreciated the win via a letter, the fans of the game displayed their love by tuning in to watch the game live. The game had 6.4 million peak viewers, breaking the record for the most watched esports title.

The record previously was held by a 2021 Free Fire World Series with 5.4M peak viewers. The stream also broke the record for the Korean, English and Vietnamese broadcast peaks for the most peak viewers record.

The Worlds events now sits at the top of PC esports and has been continuously breaking its own record to stay on top.

In its fourteenth year, League of Legends’ Worlds is the most successful esports event. With 6.4M peak viewers, it’d be hard to come closer to the popularity of League of Legends.
