Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage Day 5 Schedule

Team Liquid vs GAM Esports [8am BST]

T1 in Round 1, NRG in Round 2, Team Liquid have had a rough go at Worlds 2023 thus far. The all-Korean roster sought to forge a new dynasty domestically and internationally through the signings of some of NA’s more promising talent, combined with defending Worlds Champion Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon. However, all of this failed to materialize after Liquid struggled to even perform domestically. After narrowly qualifying for Worlds, they faced back-to-back tough matchups that see them now up for elimination. This is despite some promising plays during both games played.

In the other corner is GAM, who has been the punching bag for teams from the other regions since they reached the Swiss Stage. Despite emerging from the Play-Ins looking relatively strong, they have found themselves massively gapped in both games played. Both Gen.G and Fnatic proved themselves too strong of adversaries for GAM to contest and the Vietnamese team is now up for elimination.

For both teams, this next game not only represents their last chance at Worlds 2023, but also their easiest matchup thus far in the Swiss Stage. According to Strafe viewers, Team Liquid is overwhelmingly predicted to win the series, with 72% of the 1602 predictions.

Dplus KIA vs Team BDS [11am BST]

Subject of Worlds 2023’s music video, GODS. Defending Worlds champion. Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu now finds his team on the cusp of elimination in the Swiss Stage. With a score of 0-2, Dplus has now lost to both G2 and KT Rolster in Rounds 1 and 2. Despite attempts to perform, Dplus KIA came in looking far from the best Korea had to offer. However, the pedigree on this roster, especially with names such as Heo “Showmaker” Su and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu begs plenty of questions as to what has caused the team to degrade to such an extent.

BDS, the hopeful team of EU who delivers excitement if not results. Having despatched of Golden Guardians in their qualifying series and making it through Play-Ins, BDS had to face JD Gaming in their opening game. This was followed by MAD Lions, who showcased their speciality of defeating their own region. Now BDS have to overcome a Korean roster looking to avoid shame if they want to remain at Worlds 2023. Dplus is favored in this upcoming series, according to Strafe viewers, of whom 1588 predicted a 73% edge to them.
